From Pee-Wee Herman to John Lennon, this collection of celebrity illustrations is created by Steve Moore, also known as PXL8R.
The famous faces are made from a cluster of perler beads arranged in 11 by 11 inch squares that are melted using an iron. Moore uses American perler beads, English hama and Swedish nabbi beads to incorporate a variety of colors. These beads are strategically placed to produce easily recognized faces. He studies the images and digitally pixelates them before constructing the portraits using plastic beads.
This American artist has always been interested in graphic arts, more specifically in traditional modern art and contemporary urban art. His interests in patterns led him to create these intricate star portraits. Amongst this list of creatively crafted famous figures is Snoop Dogg, Ellen DeGeneres and Tina Fey.
