The popularity of STEAM building in the architectural industry may be increasing due to the fact that many are emphasizing special programs, geared to prepare and advance students who are interested in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. This particular STEAM building belongs to Gresham's School in Norfolk—an independent day and boarding school. The structure was designed by WilkinsonEyre and it was made possible by a generous £18.75 million donation from James Dyson. As a result, the STEAM building is named 'The Dyson Building.'
The structure is complete with teaching spaces that "can be opened up to the surrounding campus." The architectural firm relied on this strategy in order to encourage collaboration and exchange—things that are crucial in the world of STEAM. With its perforated copper facade and strategically chosen material palette, the STEAM building gives off an industrial feel.
