Fjcstudio Wraps the Darlington Public School in Aluminum
Amy Duong — November 14, 2024 — Art & Design
Architecture firm Fjcstudio has taken on the task of redesigning the Darlington Public School in Sydney, Australia. The new update is denied by its exterior facade, which is made with a perforated aluminum screen. This design was inspired by the school's "strong connection to Aboriginal people" and infused this idea through the landscaping and design.
The artwork is completed by Aboriginal artists Blak Douglas and Neil Thorne. The studio shares, "The school's emphasis on blending educational, cultural, and environmental values highlights its role as a community hub that celebrates both its local landscape and its deep connections to Aboriginal heritage." The classrooms are designed with white walls and wooden storage spaces for contrast along with plenty of lighting.
