Just as there are sports bars for fans of football, basketball and baseball, Basic is on a mission to build a sports bar for pop culture fans. Rather than having screens dedicated to showing the latest matches and games, Basic is a place where pop culture fans will gather to view the latest episodes of their favorite reality TV shows, and award shows like the Oscars and Grammys.
After closing up her social media agency and founding Basic, 25-year-old entrepreneur and content creator Kelsie Exley is documenting the journey of opening this pop culture bar online.
“I find myself usually watching those events or shows alone in my bedroom or my living room,” Exley told Small Business BC, “Maybe sometimes having a few girlfriends over, but I always had this vision of being in a beautiful space like a bar that’s very feminine and having other women and people around that have the same interests as me and we all get to experience watching the award shows and reality shows together.”
