BIG Architects Boasts a Mirrored Installation for Burning Man
Kalin Ned — July 9, 2018 — Art & Design
Bjarke Ingels and Jacob Lange from BIG launch a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo to raise funds for a sizable sphere artwork that is inflatable and has mirroring properties. The bar is set at $50,000 USD and in return, backers will get “juicy perks.” For instance, at the $50 USD donation mark, individuals receive a set of design-driven postcard and at the $5000 USD, they get a private tour inside the sphere artwork, which is called The Orb.
Bjarke Ingels and Jacob Lange envision that their creation is a “mirror for earth lovers” and “a guiding beacon [...] [that] reflects crowds during the day.” Given the nature and thought process behind the sphere artwork, the crowd-funded Orb soundly fits the spirit of the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert.
