Qualcomm recently announced its new 'Snapdragon XR2' chip which will improve AR and VR systems. The company indicated that the new chip is not meant to replace its chips that are already being used in devices currently on the market. Qualcomm believes that its existing chips can be used for most devices, however, the new chips are designed to be used in devices that require enhanced capabilities.
The Snapdragon XR2 chip is also the first-ever extended reality system that is able to run on 5G. The 5G capabilities will be able to provide detailed VR experiences with lower latency. Additionally, the chip will also be the first XR platform that can play a 360-degree video in 8K.
