It's commonplace to find diners on their smartphones when gathering for a drink or meal, but the Futago Smartphone-Fasting Sour is intended to help prevent this from happening. The yakiniku restaurant in Tokyo is served in the Smartphone-Abstinence Glass, which is constructed with a notch in the base that requires the diner to position it overtop the edge of their smartphone. This will prevent the diner from using their smartphone as the drink can't be put down without it, while activating the device's flashlight will shine up to illuminate the sea-inspired cocktail recipe.
The Futago Smartphone-Fasting Sour takes a cheeky approach to encouraging diners to be in the moment and enjoy an experience, and could help diners to spend more time actually socializing.
