The Slinky Springs Bridge is an impressive overpass that was inspired by a toy. As fun to look at as an actual slinky is to play with, this bridge stretches long and wide over the Rhine-Herne Canal in Oberhausen, Germany.
Designed by artist Tobias Rehberger in collaboration with structural engineers Schlaich Bergermann and Partners, the Slinky Springs Bridge connects the Imperial Park with Emscher Island, two important leisure areas in the city, according to Inquiringmind.
In addition to the spiraling metal encasement, the Slinky Springs Bridge boasts a rainbow-colored walkway that adds a further artistic touch to the already sculptural construct. Made out of a springy synthetic pavement, the path brings even more excitement to the crossing.
