Artist Frankey Installs the Canal Skybridge in Amsterdam
Amy Duong — December 25, 2023 — Art & Design
Durch street artist Frankey, whose name is Frank de Ruwe installed the Canal Skybridge in the central streets of Amsterdam. The design has a cartoonish theme and is nestled between a pair of buildings on Rokin. It links together two upper floors of buildings in the city with a structure that is inspired by the various bridges in the city.
It is suspended 10 meters above ground and detailed with dark green railings and the traditional crown lantern. The artist notes that he is "Taking cues from comics where realism isn't a constraint, I have created the world's tallest canal bridge." He continues, This bridge stands as a connection, but also as an interface between humour and wonder
