Syfy, a science fiction network, is scheduled to air a shoppable TV special on August 1st. The shoppable TV special is named Syfy Wire After Dark, and viewers can scan a code on the screen using their phone, in order to buy various items, including graphic novels, sunglasses and more. The event will also be available on all of the network's digital and editorial platforms, as well as over social media.
Shoppable functions were made possible though an NBCUniversal Checkout tool, which was created for companies to convert content into an experience for consumers to purchase goods. The NBCUniversal Checkout tool was released in April, and this will be first time Syfy will use the technology.
