The Shenyang Sport Center design concept looks like a landed alien crystal ship. A futuristic structure, this massive, multi-purpose facility is certainly impressive enough to host the 2013 National Games.
Designed by EMERGENT Architecture, the Shenyang Sport Center will be comprised of a civic recreation center, swimming arena, soccer fields, basketball, tennis, badminton and volleyball courts as well as open park spaces. A versatile structure, when not holding sport events, it will also be able to accommodate other events such as concerts.
Yet what is most impressive about the Shenyang Sport Center is the fact that it is solar-powered thanks to the installation of photovoltaic panels on all of its roof surfaces. It will reside adjacent from Shenyang Park.
