At the end of last year, A Brooklyn-based organization called Neighbors Allied for Good Growth teamed up with local restaurants Toro Ironwork and Anella to pilot a reusable takeout container program dubbed 'Shareare.' Specifically designed to help cut down on unnecessary waste from takeout containers, the program gives restaurants a unique alternative to disposables.
Shareware is a pilot program that allows customers at Toro Ironwork and Anella to opt for reusable takeout containers instead of disposable ones. The containers are provided at no extra cost and customers are simply instructed to bring back the containers at their convenience. To participate, customers simply sign up online and then mention that they are in the Shareware program when dining at one of the two restaurants. After returning their containers, customers will be rewarded with exclusive #TakeOutTheWaste coupons.
