Privately owned fragrance and taste company Firmenich collaborated with arts and design college students from Central Saint Martins in London to create concepts like the Scent Fountain for the 14th edition of its Olfactive Design program. The brief was to reimagine the future of fine fragrance and the resulting concepts explore everything from physical and digital experiences to innovative distribution methods.
Student Aliza Ruzavina devised a communal Scent Fountain with the intention of helping communities shape the vision for their neighborhood. Designed to be centrally placed, the fragrance fountain is designed to give people the chance to vote on everything from building development and industrial changes to traffic density, and as they do, they'll inhale scents linked to different outcomes. For example, uplifting scents have the potential to share the experience of positive and eco-conscious choices.
