The Roadster 3.0 is the new and improved offering from Tesla; this marvel promises an impressive range of 644 km on a single charge. Much of the improvement owes itself to a new battery pack. Whereas the original Roadster produced 53 kilowatt/hours, the new battery pumps that figure up to 70 without taking up more room. This is thanks to significant improvements in cell technology since the introduction of the original Roadster in 2008.
Tesla owners looking to enjoy the new upgrades will have to wait for the battery to complete safety tests; however the new Roadster 3.0 will be tested by Tesla via a non-stop drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles in early 2015. The reworked Roadster will be available a few months into 2015, although pricing hasn't yet been revealed.
