Tom Sachs Unveils the Ritual Exhibition
Tom Sachs introduces a solo show entitled the Ritual Exhibition at the Thaddaeus Ropac located in Paris, France. The artwork features handmade sculptures that Sachs has reimagined. He takes regular everyday lifestyle objects and recreates it using his signature bricolage design.
The gallery states, “Influenced by the subcultures of an urban metropolis like New York, specifically the phenomenon of New York City’s corner stores, known as bodegas due to their roots in the city’s Latin American communities of the 1950s, the artist replicates commonplace industrial objects using everyday materials, including plywood, cardboard, resin, tape, and paint,” The looks range from reinterpreted surveillance cameras and Tide detergent. Many of these are made with materials such as plywood.
