Spanish architecture firm Herreros Arquitectos revamped communication company Hispasat’s headquarters by putting in place an enormous perforated aluminum shield that surrounds the entirety of the existing establishment. Herreros Arquitectos fabricated this futuristic facade in order to meet Hispasat’s internal problem of rising temperatures and solar radiation. The creative cutouts cleverly address this concern in conjunction with a number glass sheets of differing opacity and color. These combined elements work together to adapt to varying lighting and atmospheric conditions that could occur in the area. This results in an aesthetic and more comfortable work environment and internal temperature for employees.
This space age-inspired renovation project is also reflective of the re-branding efforts being made by Herreros, bringing them from the 1970s to infinity and beyond.
