'Yubo,' the video-based social media platform targeted towards the younger generation that allows creators to stream and upload short and long-form videos, has debuted the 'Pixel Reward Program' to allow for in-app monetization. Similar to Twitch or TikTok, when a user finds a creator that they enjoy on Yubo, they can now tip that creator. However, this process is a little more gamified on Yubo.
Tipping on Yubo is not done through regular currencies, but rather users can tip creators through 'Pixels.' Pixels are digital images that can be purchased by viewers of a content creator for a varying amount of the application's currency, 'YuBucks.' When a Pixel is purchased with YuBucks, the content creator will receive 30% of the YuBucks directly to their account, while also receiving a Pixel.
This system creates a gamified donation feature whereby users do not simply accrue money, but also digital collectible images that can be sent to other creators.
