The city of Philadelphia has transformed 10 recycling trucks into works of movable art. The bold graphics that were painted on the trucks were inspired by the historic textiles collection at Philadelphia University's Design Center.
More than 60 students enrolled themselves in the Big Picture Program that was sponsored by the Mural Arts Program and participated in turning these trucks into stylish, graphic garbage trucks.
Implications - In today's society, preferences of many individuals are based solely on appearance. Consumers may choose not to invest their time or money in an idea or concept that generates what they perceive as an unappealing aesthetic. Companies and organizations will benefit by focusing greater attention to the image of their products because today's society continues to be driven by perception.
