In an effort to raise awareness about period poverty -- the inability to purchase menstruation products -- the nonprofit 'Period' shared a public service announcement via its social media channels. The video features several prominent figures including Stephanie Shepherd, Madame Gandhi, Krewella and more, and speaks to the lack of attention paid to period poverty.
To highlight the concern, the video's cast all has blood slowly leaking from their nostrils while discussing how easy blood that is hidden is to ignore. Moreover, not having access to tampons and pads means individuals may not be able to go to school or work, profoundly affect an individual's ability to earn an income.
The public service announced was created by BBDO San Francisco and sponsored by Seventh Generation.
