For instance, in this series entitled ‘Astronaut Girls,’ Yip renders a collection of youthful Caucasian women suited up in space exploration gear. The ladies are drawn beautifully and would probably make more sense on the covers of fashion magazines rather than being on NASA missions. After all, when was the last time you spotted an astronaut wearing lipstick while in space? Her use of runny watercolors and pinkish hues also give these amazing images a surreal quality.
