Sabu Studios Creates the Handmade Onu Series from Timber
Australian furniture design studio Sabu Studio introduces its new Onu series which is made up of lighting crafted from wood that has been purposely split to create a bold light source. It is made up of floor light and the Onu pendant light -- both of which are made by hand by Sabu Studio.
It aims to blend together the traditions of woodworking techniques with modern design languages. Speaking about the series, the imprint states that it was designed in response to "rapid urbanization" and wanted to connect the urban interior to the nature of the world. Founder Samuel Burns states I believe even the act of utilizing a natural material, like timber, provokes enough connotations of the natural landscape, and in turn introduces it into interior spaces."
