Designer Didi NG Wing Yin presents the new Down to Earth collection made up of timber furniture which has been carved by hand for a dynamic look. It features chunky stools and a lampshade that is made from wood shavings shown during Helsinki Design Week.
Notably, the furniture is a part of Habitare, which is the furniture fair that happens annually and is part of the overall Design Week. Yin speaks about the entirely wooden design to Dezeen, stating that it is his "way of working a bit against traditional industrial design. That's why none of the shapes are the same. You want to touch wood – whenever you see the texture, you want to feel it. The idea isn't to make wood not look like wood, but it's to make sure that it doesn't look ordinary."
