In an effort to help fund their own education, kids in Colombia are offering online dance lessons. Chocó To Dance offers web-based classes for just $19.99 USD a year, which helps finance the young teachers' post-graduate education.
Four of Latin America's most popular dance styles -- salsa, reggeaton, choke and champeta -- are taught by young people who are Quibdo natives. You can learn to dance online, with over 100 lessons available. The subscription-based business model helps pay for academic scholarships for students in the Choco area who would not otherwise be able to afford their post-graduate schooling.
This endeavor is an example of a community leveraging a local skill on an international scale to benefit that same underprivileged community.
