The Olek crocheted jacare alligator is the main fixture in a playground in Sau Paolo, Brazil.
Initially created for the SESC arts show 2012, the Brooklyn artist Olek enlisted the help of crocheteiros who helped cover the massive animal. The fluorescent yarn used to net the animal is a mix of North Carolinian acrylic and Brazilian ribbon. The lizard jungle gym is hollow on the inside, supported by a metal frame to allow children to play inside. They will love the frightening nature of the looming masochistic figure, but will be consoled by the plush covering.
With the otherwise terrifying gator's bite is softened by its skin, the eclectic playground is sure to attract families all over for a chance to visit the belly of the beast.
