The No. 48 car driven by six-time NASCAR Cup champion Jimmie Johnson has long been an icon of the NASCAR circuit. This new unabashedly patriotic paint job for the car looks forward to Independence Day, and was the star of the show at the All-Star Race and the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte.
Perhaps more importantly, the all-American car will retain this exquisitely patriotic paint scheme for the Coke Zero 400 event at Daytona on Independence Day. Furthermore, it will be used in the Phoenix race in November to mark Veterans Day.
This No. 48 car was designed by a friend of team crew chief Chad Knaus. It honors service members, including the 14,000 active and retired service members who work for the team's main sponsor Lowe's.
