The recognizable NIVEA Creme tin packaging has received an eco-friendly overall by Beiersdorf in a bid to make the product a more sustainable option for consumers to purchase.
The packaging now features 80% recycled aluminum that will help to cut roughly 8,000-tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions between now and 2025. This is thanks to the recycled aluminum process that uses around 95% less energy when compared to virgin aluminum. The pack does not currently contain 100% recycled aluminum due to potential supply constraints, but could see this update happen in the years ahead.
Morgane Deleuze in Marketing at Beiersdorf commented on the new NIVEA Creme tin saying, "It is a proof point for our approach at Beiersdorf and at NIVEA: we want to deliver impact at scale, so we implement sustainability aspects with our global bestsellers. This allows millions of consumers around the globe to stick to their well-known and trusted skin care routines and reduce their carbon footprint at the same time.”
