The Concorde supersonic jet revolutionized air travel but was unsuccessful in terms of longevity due to high operating costs and a noisy operation, so the NASA X-Plane has been created to help change this.
Presently in the early stages of development, the supersonic jet would create a "low boom" experience, which means it wouldn't cause an explosive sound when reaching it's cruising altitude.
