The 'Mud Mania' Obstacle Course Lets Kids Get a Bit Dirty

While outdoor obstacle courses such as Tough Mudder and Mud Hero have become extremely popular among adults, now there is a kid-friendly version known as 'Mud Mania.' Hosted by the National Trail Parks and Recreation District of Springfield, Ohio, the event is a unique opportunity for kids to embrace the messiness of outdoor play.
Mud Mania is an outdoor mud obstacle course event that is specially designed for kids 14 and under. This year's event was attend by more than 350 children, who spent their time navigating a muddy course dotted with obstacles such as a climbing wall and a blackout tunnel. After getting down and dirty, the kids are sprayed off with a fire hose by firefighters from the Springfield Fire/Rescue Division.
The event is not only designed so that kids can play outdoors without worrying about the resulting mess, but also to get kids excited about a different kind of physical activity.
