There are plenty of mental health apps on the market that offer digital therapy or cognitive training, but Mindstrong's Health app is different as it studies how one interacts with a smartphone in an effort to diagnose a potential mental illness.
In the research stage, scientists studied how one's phone-based interactions correlated with one's mental state. For example, memory problems can be detected based on numerous factors including how long it takes someone to scroll through a contact list, the amount of errors made in texts, the inclusion of punctuation, and how quickly one swaps through apps. The app also provides a mood disorder chart that explains results to the user, and the option to contact a clinician.
