The eco-transportation company, Lightyear, has unveiled its new prototype titled the Lightyear One. The new model features a design with an extended range, which has been measured at 450 miles. The long range is possible with the use of the car's battery, which can be powered from either sunlight or from a charging station. The car's flexibility is the key to the long-range design, where conventional electric cars need to recharge, the solar panels can charge the car as it's in motion.
The solar panels in the Lightyear One are able to add a charge of approximately 12 miles/hour. The panels are located on the roof, as well as the hood of the car. The company indicates that the panels are well-enforced, as they are beneath safety glass.
