Sesame Street is making a bid for being the most pop culture-conscious children's show on the market with this spoof of Les Mis entitled 'Les Mousserables.' The title role is taken over by Cookie Monster on a search for cookies.
Sesame Street is no new kid on the block (or street depending on how you look at it) when it comes to high quality productions. Les Mousserables goes above and beyond the average children's show mandate for quality by delivering something that only the parents and older relatives of its core audience will understand.
The story isn't exactly the same but if it was it certainly wouldn't be appropriate subject matter for the kind of viewership the franchise is looking for. Either way, the set is designed beautifully and the jokes are quite funny.
