Henry Hargreaves Captured the Last Meals of Infamous Inmates

— February 21, 2017 — Art & Design
Henry Hargreaves, an artist and professional photographer who's based out of Brooklyn, New York, recreated the last meals of some of the world's most widely known criminals for his project 'No Seconds.'

He started the morbid series because he believes that one's choices in food has a lot to say about their character. In one image, the final meal of John Wayne Gacy, a serial killer and rapist, is recreated. In a large aluminum dish are 12 fried shrimp, a bucket of KFC and exactly one pound of strawberries.

On the other hand, Victor Feguer, a murderer and the last person to be put to death in Iowa, requested just a single olive with a pit in it.
Trend Themes
1. Food Choice Persona - Exploring the connection between a person's food choices and their character presents opportunities for companies to develop targeted personalized food recommendations and services.
2. Morbid Art - The trend of using art to explore dark subjects like death row meals creates space for artists and photographers to challenge societal norms and stimulate conversations around controversial topics.
3. Remixing History - Recreating last meals of infamous individuals offers an innovative way to revisit historical events and personalities, sparking interest in history enthusiasts and collectors of unique art pieces.
Industry Implications
1. Personalized Nutrition - The exploration of food choices as a reflection of character provides an opportunity for personalized nutrition companies to use data and algorithms for more accurate food recommendations based on personality traits.
2. Contemporary Art - The creation of thought-provoking art projects like 'No Seconds' opens up opportunities for contemporary art galleries and museums to engage audiences by showcasing unconventional and socially impactful work.
3. Historical Preservation - The reinterpretation and visual representation of historical events through pop culture mediums like photography allows for the development of interactive exhibits and educational initiatives in the field of historical preservation.
