Forty Ounce Wine Only Offers Large Wine Bottles

— April 8, 2017 — Lifestyle
As its name suggests, Forty Ounces Wine specializes in the creation of large wine bottles.

A standard 750-mL bottle of wine only holds about 25 ounces of liquid, which is about six single-serve glasses of wine. Forty Ounces Wine sets itself apart by offering "forties" of muscadet, and as of this spring season, rosé. While forty-ounce bottles usually only contain high-alcohol malt liquor, this new large wine bottle format introduces a new way to enjoy organically farmed wines.

Alongside flavor-specific category crossovers like cocktail-inspired beer and tequila-vodka hybrids, key players across the alcohol industry are adapting adjacent packaging styles. Other examples of this include wine that is packaged like beer in slim bottles with metal caps or cans for on-the-go convenience. As a result, wine culture, which can seem intimidating to some consumers, seems much more appealing and approachable.
Trend Themes
1. Large Wine Bottles - Opportunities for winemakers to offer unique packaging sizes and formats to cater to consumer preferences and convenience.
2. Category Crossovers - Opportunities for beverage companies to create innovative products that blend different alcohol categories to appeal to adventurous consumers.
3. Approachable Wine Culture - Opportunities for wine industry players to break down traditional barriers and create more welcoming and inclusive environments for consumers with different levels of wine knowledge and experience.
Industry Implications
1. Wine - Opportunities for winemakers to experiment with packaging formats and marketing strategies to stand out in a competitive market.
2. Alcohol Beverages - Opportunities for alcohol manufacturers to tap into consumers' desire for unique and innovative products that go beyond traditional categories and formats.
3. Hospitality - Opportunities for bars and restaurants to cater to consumers' interest in adventurous and alternative beverage options, including large format wines and category crossovers.
