Jennifer Love Hewitt received a lot of criticism after appearing in an ‘exclusive’ Us Weekly cover story which detailed her 18 lb weight loss in just ten weeks. I think she deserved each and every bit of the negative feedback. After all, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s cover story was an 180 degrees turn on her vocal outcry for women to “embrace your body” a few months earlier when a rather unflattering image of her in a bikini was all over the media.
However, Jennifer Love Hewitt has come forward in a new interview with TV guide to clear things up and explain that she was as surprised with the cover story as everyone else. In fact, she claims she never even conducted the interview with Us Weekly.
“You know what’s funny is I didn’t participate in it,” explained Jennifer Love Hewitt. “Everybody thinks I did, but.... They talked to my trainer, who I think was just trying to say nice things and it kind of went on. I literally got a phone call saying, “P.S. You’re going to be on the cover of Us, and they’re talking about you losing weight.”
“I didn’t want people to think what I said [last year] wasn’t true, because I stand by what I said,” Jennifer Love Hewitt says of her earlier comments. “People’s bodies are going to change. Sometimes you’re going to go up, sometimes you’re going to go down.... I wish people would stop talking about it all together, to be quite honest.”
As someone who struggles with weight issues, I kind of have some sympathy for Jennifer Love Hewitt. I mean, the media stalks and talks about celebrity weight no matter what. Celebrities are humans with flaws, and not all of them want to be (or should be) role models.
