Hedge trimmers and VR may sound like an odd and dangerous combination, but Lowe's Holoroom Test Drive carefully blends to the two to give customers a chance to test out burly power tools. This latest VR experiment from Lowe's features the popular HTC Vive VR platform and is capable of tracking a user in VR as well as the full-sized vibrating power tool they use in the simulation. For safety reasons, the blade and moving part of the tool have been removed but the weight and immersive nature is still prevalent in the VR space.
The Holoroom Test Drive experience was developed by Lowe's incredibly creative innovation lab who have been working with VR and AR platforms since 2014. This new Holoroom Test Drive experience will be featured in select Lowe's locations and is being used to exclusively showcase the Kobalt 24V cordless hedge trimmer.
