It's been 25 years since 'The Shining' first graced theaters around the world and to celebrate, the hotel that inspired the cult classic has announced a hedge maze competition. The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, is set to build its own 61,500 square foot hedge maze. Although the contest draws from the film itself, it is calling for new designs, thus involving the design community in a big way.
This particular hedge maze will involve 1,600 to 2,000 Alpine Currant hedge bushes. The Stanley Hotel has provided a simple template as well as a basic example of what a hedge maze design might look like in order to provide prospective participants with some general guidelines.
