Office ParkScheerbarth Designs the Compact Haus 2+ in Berlin
Amy Duong — October 24, 2023 — Art & Design
Architecture studio Office ParkScheerbarth presents a look at the Haus 2_, which is a bright red curved structure paired with cubic volumes. It is a mixed-use building found in Berlin as the latest addition to the compact riverside. It is in the city's Holzmarkt 25, which was once a lumber port and now transformed into a cultural district.
The selection of the red tone is meant to draw on the 'patches' of colors that are nearby the location. Co-founder of Office ParkScheerbarth, Moojin Park states, "We wanted to add to rather than emerge from the seemingly improvised surroundings. Yet, we are also inspired by the vibrancy of the cultural quarter. To both harmonise and contrast, we created a timber building with a monochrome aesthetic and a clear sculptural quality."
