Villainous Harlequin Costumes

Clean the Sky - Positive Eco Trends & Breakthroughs

This Homemade Harley Quinn Costume is Inspired by the Suicide Squad

— October 3, 2015 — Pop Culture
This DIY Harley Quinn costume takes inspiration from Margot Robbie's depiction of the villainous trickster in the all-new superhero film, Suicide Squad. The costume designed by blogger Love Maegan replicates the makeup, hair and outfit that Robbie adorns in the movie featuring an incredibly realistic depiction of the character.

Quinn is known in the Batman saga as the girlfriend of the infamous villain Joker. In the film Suicide Squad Quinn's look is slightly more edgy and flirtatious featuring blue and pink pigtails, a playing card-inspired outfit and gesture white makeup. The costume features a black corset that has been revamped with the addition of blue and red opposite cups, a white school girl shirt and opposite colored boots and tights. This would be a great costume to try out for Halloween or a Batman cosplay.
Trend Themes
1. DIY Costumes - The trend of creating DIY costumes can be capitalized upon by offering workshops, tutorials, and DIY costume-making supplies.
2. Pop Culture-inspired Costumes - Businesses can offer licensed pop-culture themed costumes that match recent media releases to take advantage of the popularity of the source material.
3. Gender-bender Costumes - Businesses could create subcategories of costumes featuring gender-bending characters such as female Loki or male Wonder Woman.
Industry Implications
1. Party Supplies - Costume companies could offer artistic renditions of newly-released pop culture costumes as well as DIY costume kits along with accessories like makeup and wigs.
2. Viral Marketing - Studies have shown that unique, internet-worthy, customized costumes lead to higher engagement in social media, and companies can help create these and promote them to encourage word-of-mouth marketing.
3. Fashion Design - Since costumes are often fashion-oriented, businesses could create lower-priced versions of certain DIY costumes as well as officially-licensed clothing lines replicas or inspired by popular media figures.
