'Gromit Unleashed' is a recently launched project in Bristol, England. Similar in concept to the 2000 Toronto 'Moose in the City' campaign, 'Gromit Unleashed' will place life-sized sculptures around the European city. Eighty giant Gromits will be decorated by local artists and scattered around the city, accompanying significant landmarks. The popular character from British stop motion show 'Wallace and Gromit' is originally nude-colored, but schools and community groups have been taking part in designing blank-canvased Gromits.
The project also includes a downloadable smartphone app called 'Detect-O-Gromit,' guiding you around the city to spot Gromits while learning about Bristol’s famous tourist sites. The proceeds from this campaign will be donated to Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, a children’s hospital charity in Bristol.
