Generally, Find My Device apps are great for locating a general area where a lost or stolen phone may be, however, they rarely work in indoor locations. Google set out to solve this issue and its new Find My Device app shows users an indoor map once they entire a large building. This new feature is the result of years of recording layouts of complex spaces such as malls, airports, and department stores.
Google has yet to announce which specific buildings the Find My Device apps will work with, but most important structures should be featured. The updated app also includes a feature that forces the lost phone to play a sound at full volume, even when on silent mode or locked.
