Google Maps now has the capability to show accessible locations on the app. Locations can be displayed for wheelchair ramps, accessible bathrooms, and more. Google Maps has been collecting data on accessible locations for a number of years, and it now has the capabilities to show this information to users of the app.
Google announced the feature on its blog for Global Accessibility Awareness Day and showed users how to access it.
Uses can access the feature under ‘Settings,’ and then turn ‘Accessible places’ on. Overall the new feature will be highly beneficial for individuals who require these features to go about their daily activities. Additionally they can now use Maps as a tool to help plan out their day, and be informed ahead of time as to which accessible features a building may have.
