In the last few years, many fashion brands and retailers have banned fur or are quickly working towards phasing out the use of the material in favor of sustainable alternatives made with innovative cruelty-free fur materials. While many faux fur materials are made from petroleum-based products, Stella McCartney debuted a bio-based faux fur by KOBA that's made from recycled polyester and up to 100% Sorona fibers. The eco-friendly faux fur material includes a corn-based component and helps to reduce its carbon footprint while also offering a high-quality option for luxury brands.
One of the first prototypes of McCartney's designs featuring KOBA Fur Free Fur was sported by supermodel Natalia Vodianova, who attended the designer's Summer 2020 show in Paris.
