Fashion House Valentino Enlists Inked Models to Showcase New Products
Fashion house Valentino hired photographer Terry Richardson to conceive the images of its Fall/Winter 2015 lookbook. The photographer was able to capture the fashion brand’s line of accessories using tattooed models.
All of the images for the lookbook feature arms, hands and legs that are decorated with tattoos. Each limb is wearing or holding one of the new products. The editorial images feature a muscular male arm that holds backpacks and shoes from the new luxury line of goods.
These images captivate the viewer through the use of the tattoos and reject common fashion industry stereotypes that reject body art. While synonymous with classic elegance, fashion house Valentino has pushed boundaries in recent years in an attempt to appeal to younger demographics. By using a male arm to hold a feminine backpack, the luxury label pushes visual boundaries and promotes a focus on genderless styling.
