A team of designers affiliated with Virginia Tech University, called Enrich Group, created a community-building greenhouse. Gardening provided several physical and mental health benefits, not to mention the added satisfaction of watching plants flourish. Enrich Group decided to bring this enjoyment to the public. Their community greenhouse helps forge human connections and bridge generational gaps within the community.
The project's conception comes after a year of social isolation. To cultivate genuine relationships between people from different generations, the public horticultural pod boasts traditional meeting spaces outside of the pod to foster human interactions. Inside the pod, a large island is fixated in its center. Community gardeners can cultivate the hanging plant fixtures and the main communal herb plot surrounding the center table.
