The Eames Institute of Infinite Curiosity's design team takes on the task of renovating an industrial building from the 90s in California to host the studio's headquarters. It first launched in 2022 and the Richmond Space opened for public tours in February of this year. The studio has completed a gut renovation entirely of a building that is dedicated to manufacturing medical devices and the floor plans accommodate staff on two floors.
The team states, "The space began as dated, awkwardly-scaled private offices. Recognizing the innate value of Jennings's design and the building's history, The Eames Institute's internal design team set about transforming the interiors to better fit its architectural bones. The renovated office channels the design genius of Ray and Charles Eames and notably showcases vintage furnishings from the Institute's namesakes."
