A pap smear is traditionally performed by a gynecologist in a healthcare office, but the 'Domi Care' kit looks to change this with a design that can be utilized from the comfort of your own home.
The kit works by having women take their own samples and sending it into the lab to have the culture tested for cancerous cells. The accompanying smartphone app will allow you to track the progress of your test, review the results and even chat directly with a doctor. This makes it ideal for women who might not feel comfortable going for the test to take more control over their personal health by performing the process themselves.
The conceptual 'Domi Care' is the deign work of Anastasia Miller and Lauren Emmerson, and is the first-place winner of the 2018 Housewares Association Student Design Competition.
