The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a serious disruption to the access to hygiene products, which is especially troubling for frontline workers. To support these life-saving workers across the globe, Diageo — the world's largest spirit producer in the world — has pledged to donate more than two million liters of alcohol to manufacturing partners to produce hand sanitizer. Diageo's portfolio consists of Smirnoff, Captain Morgan's, and Johnnie Walker — to name a few.
The donation will contribute to over eight million 250ml bottles of hand sanitizer made from netural grain spirit. Ivan Menezes, CEO of Diageo, noted: “Health care workers are at the forefront of fighting this pandemic and we are determined to do what we can to help protect them. This is the quickest and most effective way for us to meet the surging demand for hand sanitizer around the world.”
