The 'Criterion Channel' Taps Into Important Films
Justin Lam — November 26, 2018 — Pop Culture
While there are plenty of movie streaming services, the Criterion Channel aims to stand out with a carefully curated selection of international classics, iconic Hollywood films and obscure hard-to-find discoveries. Launching in 2019, the streaming channel was created in a partnership between Filmstruck and the Criterion Collection. This partnership will give users access to the extensive Criterion Collection of films that are deemed artistically or historically important.
This is the first movie streaming service of its kind, as the Criterion Channel focuses on culturally important films. The Criterion Channel will also incorporate the Criterion Collection guest programmer series, Adventures in Moviegoing, as well as regular series such as Art-House America, Split Screen, Meet the Filmmakers, and Ten Minutes or Less.
