Designers Justin Donnelly and Monling Lee of Jumbo came up with the idea for the Creature Comfort collection during their period of self-isolation. Drawing from experiences, longings and food cravings, the five-piece furniture collection is both playful and functional. The collection also touches on the contrast between physical and digital experiences, especially as they began to blend together with the rise of Zoom calls.
The Fortune chair gets its name and shape from a fortune cookie, as Donnelly and Lee found that they became particularly fond of Chinese food. In the collection, there's also the Sport Sofa, which has visible seams and a bright color that mimics a tennis ball. Early in the outbreak, toilet paper rolls were flying off shelves and the Hung Mirror has a form that reminds of the way a tissue roll hangs and drapes.
