Design studio Bell Phillips designs the Cosway Street Housing Block located in London's Marylebone area. The units are defined by the scalloped facade that is finished with a cream and red tonal palette with brick materials to form a U-shaped structure. The namesake references the road that the building is resting in to repair the fragmented streetscape.
The team wanted to form a modern and contextual addition to the architecture as a whole. Director of the design studio Hari Phillips explains the design concept to Dezeen, stating "We found inspiration in the particular way that the urban blocks in the area celebrate corners with curved or chamfered bays. We translated this into a concave inflection at the corners of our building, which we then extended into a motif that runs along the main facades."
